NorthWood Golfers Fourth In Opening Invite
LAFAYETTE – The NorthWood girls golf team opened the season with a fourth-place finish Monday in the Lafayette Harrison Invitational.
Coach Adam Yoder’s team, which was an honorable mention selection in the coaches preseason poll, shot 365 at Coyote Crossing.
No. 8 Crown Point captured the team title with a 328. No. 14 Cathedral was runner-up with a 341 with Lafayette Jeff third with a 362 and the Panthers fourth with their 365.
Senior Linnzie Richner led the way for NorthWood with a round of 85. Junior Summer Stillson shot an 89 for the Panthers. Freshman Mackenzie Weaver had a 91, sophomore Madison Richner a 100 and freshman Abby Slabaugh a 110 for NorthWood. Slabaugh recorded a birdie on the first hole of her high school career.
Plymouth was fifth in the final team standings with a 378. Twin Lakes was sixth with a 380, followed by Brebeuf (389), Lafayette Central Catholic (410), Lafayette Harrison (421), Kokomo (426), McCutcheon (461) and West Lafayette (481).
Morgan Brown of Lafayette Central Catholic was medalist with a 76.
