Oleta L. Miller
Oleta L. Miller, 84, of Columbia City, formerly of Milford and New Paris, died Tuesday afternoon, July 28, 2015 at Miller’s at Oak Pointe.
She was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Van Buren County, Ark. to James William and Edna Jane (Payne) Leird.
On June 28, 1950, she married Thomas Chalk in Leachville, Ark. He died Sept. 16, 1979. She later married Albert “Big Al” Miller in Milford on Sept. 11, 1981. He died Nov. 21, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters: Debra Olmstead, Bristol; and Sandra (Ric) Vanlaningham, Columbia City; two stepchildren: Luke Chalk, White Pigeon, Mich.; and Barbara Burgress, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Nellie Barnhart, Ms.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands; a son: Kenneth Chalk; three stepchildren; a step-grandchild; a step-great-grandchild; seven brothers; and three sisters.
Oleta worked in housekeeping at Goshen General Hospital until her retirement in the late 1980’s. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary Post #253, North Webster and loved by all her grandchildren.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 1, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Rev. Myron Drent of Country Bible Church, North Webster, will officiate.
Burial will follow at New Paris Cemetery, New Paris.
