Warsaw Teacher Travels To Honduras To Make A Difference
Samantha Fisher is departing on Aug. 4, to the small village of Yamaranguila, Honduras. Her decision to leave her hometown of Warsaw, soon after graduating from Grace College stems from her passion towards education, poverty and Christ’s love.
This 2011 WCHS Graduate is off to Abundant Life Christian School which began in the capital of Honduras and has since expanded to six schools around the country. The newest school, still under construction, is in Yamaranguila where Samantha will begin her time with the aim of bringing a quality bilingual education to children all over the country.
This new school of ALCS is located in one of the poorer areas of Honduras. The mission of the school is to bring education to families and children who would not otherwise be able to afford it or find transportation to a school. Through scholarships and tuition reduction these children’s dreams of changing the world are more attainable.
Now, these children can dream big with an actual chance of one day accomplishing those dreams because education is often the roadmap to success.
Samantha will be assisting this brand-new school in the mission of education with her role as their kindergarten teacher. She will not only be introducing these children to the classroom but to English as well.
Moving to a different country that speaks a different language can be challenging, but Samantha is ready for what is to come. All of the unknowns are overshadowed by the excitement of starting her first classroom and loving kids from a different background.
The public is encouraged to follow Samantha on her journey through her blog at https://headedforhonduras.wordpress.com/.
Support for Samantha is also accepted through her GoFundMe page at http://www.gofundme.com/headedtohonduras and by sending tax deductible checks to her church, Mission Point Community Church in Winona Lake, with her name in the memo line.
