Peggy J. Bolen
Peggy J. Bolen, age 63, of Columbia City, passed away at 6:06 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at her residence. Born on Feb. 5, 1952, in LaPorte County, she was the daughter of James Cowgill Sr. and Mary (Spradling) Cowgill.
Growing up in the LaPorte area, Peggy graduated from LaPorte High School with the class of 1970. Moving to Northeast Indiana in 1986, she met Stan Bolen while waitressing in Kendallville. They were married Aug. 12, 1995 in Kendallville. She enjoyed all things outdoors but especially enjoyed fishing, gardening and, when her health began to fail, she found joy in watching the birds outside her window. She was also an avid fan of true crime television and enjoyed watching the Investigation Discovery network.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 20 years: Stan Bolen, Columbia City; children: Ralph (Jill) Worthey, LaPorte; Ron (Carrie) Worthey, Kendallville; and Tracy (Randy) Perry, Mishawaka; mother: Mary Cowgill, LaPorte; brother: Ron (Julia) Cowgill, Ala.; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and brothers: James Cowgill Jr.; and Albert Cowgill.
Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 19, at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, Columbia City, with visitation one hour prior. Certified funeral celebrant Sharon Brockhaus will be officiating. Memorial contributions given in Peggy’s name may be directed toward the Lupus Foundation of America.
