Community Theatre To Hold Auditions For “M*A*S*H”
WARSAW — The Center Street Community Theatre announces plans for a Fall 2015 production of M*A*S*H, by Tim Kelly. Performances are scheduled for Oct. 2-3 and 9-10 at the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts. The show will be directed by Gerald Cox.
Auditions will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 27 and 28, in the basement fellowship hall of the Warsaw First United Methodist Church. Callbacks will be July 30, at the same time and location.
Center Street Community Theatre T-shirts will also be available for $10. Sizes beyond XL will be an additional $2 or $3. Cash only.
The cast of M*A*S*H will include approximately 30 adults of varying ages (15 men, 15 women), with some members playing more than one role. The audition format will be “cold reading,” in which participants read directly from the script, rather than preparing monologues. Theatrical resumes are welcome, or background forms will be available.
Those interested in reading the script before auditions may visit the Warsaw Community Public Library. Scripts will be available to read July 20-24, but may not be checked out.
“Many of us are familiar with Hawkeye, Radar, and Hotlips,” says Jennifer Shepherd, member of the theatre’s leadership team. “Members of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital care for the injured during the Korean War and use humor to escape from the horror and depression of the situation. The stage play is similar to the hit television show and serves as a somber reminder that we continue to have men and women fighting for our freedoms.”
The Center Street Community Theatre is the most recent addition to the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts’ initiatives. The community theatre’s past productions include, “You Can’t Take It With You,” performed Oct. 10-12, 2014 and “Almost Maine,” performed on March 20, 21, and 22, 2015. Plans are also underway for yje spring show.
