Severe Thunderstorm Warning
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northern Kosciusko County until after 10 a.m. Also in the warning are Starke, Marshall, Noble, St. Joseph and Elkhart counties.
A line of strong thunderstorms was along a line extending from near Lakeville to Walkerton at 9:11 a.m and moving east southeast at 55 miles per hour. Winds in excess of 40 miles per hour are possible with these storms.
These storms will be near Milford and New Paris around 9:30 a.m., Syracuse and Bourbon around 9:35 a.m.; Ligonier around 9:45 a.m. Warsaw around 9:50 a.m., Albion around 9:55 a.m. and North Webster around 10 a.m.
Other locations impacted by these storms include Leesburg, Little Chapman Lake, Tippecanoe Lake, Cromwell, Southwest, Oakwood Park, Benton, Lake of the Woods, Locke and Gravelton.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may cause localized flooding.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with the storm. Lightning can strike 15 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
These storms may intensify.
