Man Arrested For Having Cocaine At April Concert
WARSAW— Sabas Valencia Muniz, 40, 544 E. Main Street, was arrested by county police Friday afternoon on a charge of possession of cocaine and resisting law enforcement. Both charges are level 6 felonies.
The charge stems from an April 26 incident when police were alerted of a disorderly conduct complaint while working security at a concert on the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds.
Officers Rick Shepherd, Dan Mesa, Craig Kuhn and Shane Bucher responded to the complaint and found Muniz’s speech was slurred and he was swaying from side to side. They were also alerted that he had tried to sell a female some methamphetamine.
Muniz refused to leave and as he was escorted away from the crowd, he became combative and pulled away from deputies. While deputies attempted to place him in handcuffs, he began wildly swinging his arms and legs. A stun gun was used to Muniz to gain control. Muniz also pushed his body against a fence while police were patting him down causing a finger of one of the officers to be cut by the fence.
Police also saw Muniz remove a clear plastic bag with a white powdery substance from a pocket and throw it to the ground.
A field test of the substance tested positive for cocaine.
Because it appeared Muniz was suffering from a seizure the EMS transported him to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Police were advised that Sabas had alcohol and drugs in his system.
Charges were filed against Muniz on May 11, in Kosciusko Circuit Court.
He is being held on $2,000 surety bond.
