Cromwell Days to Be Filled with Fun and Festivity
Cromwell Days Festival 2015 is kicking off the fun-filled weekend with some new tricks up the sleeve. This year’s theme, Christmas in July, is sure to keep guests feeling cool.
Ryan the Magician is the first act for the summer festival, held Friday, July 17, through Sunday, July 19, in downtown Cromwell. Ryan the Magician will begin his performance at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 17. Friday night will be filled with the Car and Motorcycle Crusie-In beginning at 6 p.m., the Inclognito Cloggers at 6 p.m., a Hula Hoop Contest at 7 p.m. and a live performance by the Junk Yard band from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Hillbilly hot dogs and brats will be available throughout the evening beginning at 4 p.m., and the Kiddie Contest for children ages 3 to 6 will be held at 6 p.m. The Sparta Township Fire Department will be at the festival from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Saturday is a busy day at the Cromwell Days Festival, beginning at 8 a.m. with the Cromwell-Kimmel Lions Club Pancake and Sausage Breakfast until 10 a.m. For the early birds, the 5K run will also be held at 8 a.m. Festival-goers can look forward to the Lions Club softball tournament at 9 a.m., a hoop shoot contest, a corn hole tournament, children’s Power Wheel race and a noon demo by the Lake City Roller Dolls.
From 3 to 7 p.m. Cromwell Days will be holding the Antique Tractor Show, with the Kids’ Bike Rodeo beginning at 5 p.m. behind the Lake City building.
Saturday is also the day for the grand parade, beginning at 2 p.m. The Christmas in July theme will cool down the summer street with fun floats, music and plenty of parade guests. Cromwell residents have been asked to break out their best Christmas decor in the spirit of the festival, and judges will be awarding cash prizes for best decorating. Judges will award prizes for first, second and third place entries.
Saturday evening Marshall Law will be providing live entertainment with country music. For anyone who may have missed Fourth of July celebrations, everyone is welcome to join in a fireworks display at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, July 18.
Sunday will be started with a 10 a.m. service by guest speaker Rev. Roy Lee, hailing from Bradenton, Fla. Rev. Lee has worked many years as a United Methodist speaker at several different churches, including the Cromwell United Methodist Church from 1987 to 1992. The Sunday service will be held at the Cromwell Community Center.
