Jerry L. Smith
Jerry L. Smith, 85, Warsaw, died at 4:41 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
He was born June 20, 1930, to Walter B. and Agnes (Harman) Smith, and was a 1948 graduate of Warsaw Community High School. He graduated from Manchester University in 1952 with a degree in education. He married Wylan Titus on Aug. 19, 1950, in Atwood, and was a life time Warsaw resident.
Jerry was the owner of the Buffalo Street Dry Cleaners until he sold out to Rex Wildman. He then purchased Rohrbach Cleaners in Columbia City. He also had a rental property business until his retirement. Jerry was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed music and movie collecting, boating, gardening, traveling, and travel clubs.
He is survived by his daughter: Cindy (Gary) Goshert, Ligonier; son: Tal Smith, Indianapolis; three grandchildren: Gretchen Goshert, Milford; Megan Grimes, Zionsville; and James Hoyt, Indianapolis; one great-grandson: Corwin Hoyt; and one great-granddaughter: Sienna Reese Grimes. He is preceded in death by his wife: Wylan T. Smith, on Dec. 16, 2004; brother: Ned Smith, on April 1, 2006; and sisters: Virginia Powell, on July 8, 2014; Margaret Williamson, on Jan. 14, 2002; and June Longenbaugh, on June 6, 2012.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, July 14, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Services will begin at noon after visitation, also at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor David Hummel, Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
