Robert G. Buhrt
Robert G. Buhrt, 85 entered his eternal life in Heaven at 10 p.m. on the 4th of July, following a brief illness. He was at the same home in Kosciusko County where he was born on Nov. 7, 1929, to Paul and Ida (Mock) Buhrt.
On Dec. 31, 1953, he married Lorabell J. Newcomer in Nappanee. She survives.
Bob graduated from Milford High School in 1947 and went on to serve his country honorably in the army during the Korean War. He was the second generation to farm the home farm after his father’s retirement. Bob was a dairy farmer most of his farming career and eventually retired as a grain farmer. He served on the Board of Directors of the Kosciusko County REMC and the Kosciusko County Farm Bureau CO-OP. Bob was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. His biggest joys in life were spending time with his family, having cook-outs at the cabin by the pond, fishing, golfing with his Milford friends, taking drives in the countryside, hosting the annual block party, and joking and laughing with his many friends.
Additional survivors include his children, daughters: Lana (Ross) Deatsman of Leesburg; and Patricia Buhrt of Goshen; sons: Don (Kim) Buhrt of Syracuse, and Phil Buhrt of New Castle; five grandchildren: Ben Deatsman (fiancée Misty Miller) of Milford, Ohio; Joy (Luke) Lauritsen of Arlington, Neb.; Beth (Matt) Klaassen of Indianapolis;, Jodi Buhrt of Syracuse; and Jay Buhrt of Goshen; two great-grandchildren, Brock and Brant Lauritsen both of Arlington, Neb.; a sister: Mabel Waldbeser of Milford; and a brother: John Buhrt of Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Lewis and Ray; and two sisters, Violet Lutes and Florence Nemeth.
A funeral service will be held in Buhrt’s honor at 10:30 a.m. Thursday July 9, at Mishler Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 461 W 900N, Milford, IN 46542. Pastor Rob Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, in Milford. Family and friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the funeral home and also from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.prior to the funeral service.
