Bryon T. Utter
Bryon T. Utter, 67, North Manchester, died at 2:17 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2015, in Pierceton.
He was born on April 20, 1948, in Wabash to Ernest and Betty (Woodward) Utter.
On Oct. 2, 1970, he married Linda K. Bucher. She survives.
Utter was a VietNam vet having served with the U.S. Army. He served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne in Viet Nam for four tours of duty. After returning home from Vietnam he served in the Army National Guard for three years. He then served as a reserve police officer with the North Manchester Police Department for several years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he and his wife Linda enjoyed the last two years of retirement camping at Jellystone Park, Pierceton. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was a parts manager fat Shepherd’s Chevrolet, North Manchester, for several years retiring in 2012.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Dawn M. (Matthew) Harding, Fort Wayne, and Kristie R. Utter, North Manchester; five grandchildren: Shayla Reed, Dwight France, Bryon Moore, Sadie Harding, and Curtiss “CJ” Harding; a step-father: Robert Sears Sr., Peru; five brothers: Bob (Rhonda) Utter, Talma; Bill Utter, Syracuse; Shawn Utter, Talma; Robert (Debra) Sears Jr., Warsaw; and Willie (Susie) Sears, Peru; and four sisters: Pam Sherwood, Talma; Sandy (Dave) Adams, Salem, Ohio; Pam (Mike) Myers, Newton, Kans.; and Violet Hunt, Kokomo,
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Wayne Sears.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at McKee Mortuary, 1401 SR 114W, North Manchester. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 6, at the funeral home with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Silver Creek, Silver Lake.
