Steuben County Investigating Substance Found In Mailboxes
Steuben county officials are investigating the appearance of a yellow granular substance found inside a mailbox Tuesday evening, June 30, in Hamilton, Indiana.
Small amounts of the same substance were also found on and around other mailboxes in the area of County Road 700 East and County Road 500 South, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department.
Samples of the substance were taken to be evaluated by investigators in order to attempt to identify it. The affected mailboxes were thoroughly cleaned. Angola Hazmat and Indiana State Police assisted at the scene.
Authorities ask that anyone who comes across a similar substance contact law enforcement officials and do not attempt to remove it on their own.
