The Nappanee Public Library will be closed on Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The library will resume regular hours from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, July 5.
Oral History Program at Heritage House
Nappanee residents are invited to attend a new interactive monthly program created by staff of the Evelyn Lehman Culp Heritage Collection. Participants will enjoy a casual time of conversation and reminiscing about memories of Nappanee during “Coffee Break” at Heritage House, located at 1700 Waterfall Dr., Nappanee, from 10 a.m. until noon both Thursday, July 9, and Thursday, Aug. 13.
Come just to listen to the stories or to add your own to our audio vault at the Nappanee Center history museum. Refreshments will be served, and no registration is required. For more information, call (574) 773-7812.
Quilt Guild
The Nappanee Quilt Guild, a club for those interested in new quilting techniques, meets on the second Thursday of each month at the library. Members will meet from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9. Membership for the “Artful Quilters” is open to anyone. Join the fun and fellowship with other quilters while keeping up to date with new activities and techniques in the quilting world.

Kids Crafts
Make a glittering fireworks craft at the library on Saturday, July 11. Kids will have the chance to drop in for this special activity in the children’s department from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Kids craft day is held on the second Saturday of each month in conjunction with Nappanee’s city-wide second Saturday events. Movies in the Park
Nappanee’s “Movies in the Park” series continues with a showing of “Free Willy” at the public pool at 9 p.m. Friday, July 10. All ages are invited to watch this 1993 family favorite while swimming or lounging poolside. Admission is three dollars per person and includes an ice cream treat.
The program is sponsored by the City of Nappanee Parks Department, Friends of the library, and Lake City Bank. For more information, call the library.
Healthworks Museum
Learn the jobs of major organs in your body and how to take care of them when South Bend’s Healthworks Museum comes to the library from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 7.
Participants will take part in an outrageous game of Double Dare and to be entered to win a family day pass for six to the museum at the close of the program. Kids of all ages are invited, and no registration is necessary. Those under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult.
More weekly programs for families are coming to the library in July. Learn the stories of many different types of heroes with special guests from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. Tuesdays. In addition to these activities, the library is planning ongoing open Lego build times, movie matinees, craft projects, and games throughout the summer. Glass Etching
Kids in sixth grade through high school are invited to make etched drink glasses with superhero logos at the next teen Tuesday program. Meet in the cube, the library’s new Makerspace, from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 7. All materials will be supplied and snacks will be provided. No registration is necessary.
Pinterest Night
Make an easy no-sew fabric cosmetic pouch at the next Pinterest night at the library. Crafters will meet in the cube, the library’s new Makerspace from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8. All materials will be provided to make one pouch. Cost is $5 each. All ages are welcome, but children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Pinterest night is designed as a collaborative, learn as you make program, where participants share ideas and tips to complete popular projects found on Pinterest, the virtual bulletin board and internet hub for bookmarking lifestyle links and images.
