Bottled Water Recall Notice
Niagara Water has issued a voluntary recall of spring water produced at two plants in Pennsylvania between June 10 and June 18 due to evidence of E. coli bacteria at a spring source.
According to the company, the operator at a contracted spring failed to notify the manufacturer that the spring source had potentially been compromised. No reports of illness or injury have been recorded in relation to the issue.
Finished product testing performed by Niagara did not detect any contaminants. However, the company voluntarily shut down its operations, disinfected its bottling lines and recalled products from the plants in Allentown and Hamburg, Pennsylvania, as a cautionary measure.
The recall relates only to water bottled under the brands Acadia, Acme, Big Y, Best Yet, 7-11, Niagara, Nature’s Place, Pricerite, Superchill, Morning Fresh, Shaws, Shoprite, Western Beef Blue and Wegman’s.
The “Best By” codes on the outer shrink wrap or bottle of the affected cases would range from A# BEST BY 08DEC2016 to A# BEST BY 16DEC2016 for the Allentown plant and F# BEST BY 08DEC2016 to F# BEST BY 16DEC2016 for the Hamburg plant. No other dates of Niagara bottled water are affected.
The voluntary recall is being carried out in cooperation with state and federal agencies. For more information about the recall, visit Niagara’s website or call the company at (888) 943-4894.
