Allen David ‘Buster’ Zehner
Allen David “Buster” Zehner, 65, Pierceton, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2015, in North Webster. He was born on Sept. 2, 1949, in Warsaw to Hubert Allen and Olga Lillian “Lill” Winkelman Zehner.
He graduated in 1968 from Warsaw High School and was a United States Navy Veteran. He lived most of his life in the Warsaw/Pierceton area except his years he was away for military duty. He retired from Military Sea Lift Command after 29 years of service.
He was a member of the Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Pierceton and enjoyed traveling, dancing, and playing BINGO with his mother.
He is survived by his mother; sisters: Judy (Rick) Birtles, Grayling, Mich., Karen (Ron) Morehouse, West Lafayette, Sandy (Rick) Dawson, Kingman, Tonya Letson, Lafayette, Sherrie (Steve) Read, Piermont, N.H. and Katrina (Tom) Snyder, Chicago; two half sisters: Ellen Shoemaker, Pierceton, and Debbie Lawson, Morristown, Tenn.; step-mother: Caroline Harrell, Pierceton; 11 nieces and nephews and four great- nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his father and step-father: William Airhart.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 23 at Owen Family Funeral Home, SR 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at noon Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. Holly White of the church officiating. Military graveside rites and burial will take place at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens, 1718 W. CR 35 N, West Lafayette.
