Meet The 2015 Kosciusko County 4-H Royalty Candidates
The Kosciusko County 4-H Royalty contestants were announced. The contestants met at the Kosciusko County Extension office at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 18, to interview for the coveted title of 4-H king, queen, prince and princess.
The candidates must submit a complete history of their 4-H, school, community leadership, service, activities and involvement. Blind applications are reviewed and scored by a panel of three judges.
Thursday, the judges met with the candidates for 10 minute interviews. After the judges deliberate and discuss, they will select the king, queen, prince and princess. The winners will be crowned at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the Kosciusko County Extension office.
The 2015 Kosciusko County 4-H Royalty candidates are listed below:
Zach Baughman
4-H Clubs: Pierceton Hayseed and Goat Club
Years in 4-H: Five
Projects: Goats, rabbits, poultry, woodworking, wildlife, blacksmithing, miscellaneous crafts, photography, scrapbooking and creative writing.
4-H offices held: Pierceton hayseed vice president
High school: Whitko High School- senior
Parents: Jim and Elaine Baughman
Future plans: Trine University, majoring in design engineering and playing football
Conner Sausaman
4-H Clubs: Milford Helping Hands
Years in 4-H: Nine
Projects: Dairy calf feeder steer, dairy beef, swine, poultry, alfalfa, photography and foods.
4-H officers held: Dairy Calf Feeder Steer Committee member and recreation leader
High school: Wawasee High School- junior
Parents: Matt and Christi Sausaman
Future plans: Graduate from Wawasee in 2016. Attend Blackhawk University to study agri-business and/or soil science

Projects: Beef, swine and recycling

Future plans: Graduate from college and return to the family farm
Ashley Beer

Projects: Swine, beef, dairy calf feeder steer and photography

Future plans: Graduate from Wawasee and attend college to achieve a bachelor’s degree

Projects: Dairy and swine

Parents: Mike and Jennifer Day
Future plans: Attend college, majoring in pre-med with a minor in Spanish. Following graduation, go to medical school to become a pediatrician.
Samantha Grace Deneve

Projects: Swine, poultry and sheep

Parents: Chris and Shannan Deneve
Future plans: Flight attendant and hopes to work with special needs children.

Projects: Gift wrapping, photography, scrapbooking, foods, personality, miscellaneous crafts, woodworking, consumer clothing, goats and swine.

Future plans: Graduate from high school and attend a college to pursue a degree in animal science
