Eugene L. Ringgenberg
Eugene L. Ringgenberg, 90, passed away June 8, 2015.
He was born Nov. 20, 1924, the son of Roy Ringgenberg and Mary Hontz. He married Sarah Jane Freshour on April 15, 1944, and graduated from Pierceton High School.
Eugene was a dairy farmer south of Pierceton, for 37 years before moving to Palmetto, Fla. permanently. He was named outstanding young farmer of Kosciusko County and second runner up in the in the state of Indiana in 1957. He was recognized for twenty two years of dedicated service to Kosciusko County R.E.M.C. and board Vice President six years. He loved his family, farming, fishing and shuffle boarding. While in Florida he became “Pro Shuffler”.
Survivors include his wife: Sarah; and daughter: Karen (Terry) Strueh, Lafayette; four grandchildren: Kurt (Lynn) Strueh, Zionsville; Sarah (Scott) Akin, Zionsville; Pamela (Mark) Ridenour, Goshen; and Stephanie (Mark) Brunner, Ga. Eugene was blessed with eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son: Kerry Eugene Riggenberg; a brother; and two sisters.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until noon Thursday, June 11, at Groover Funeral Home, Ellenton, Fla., with a private service at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
