Tippecanoe Watershed Producing Documentary
The Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation is combining efforts with WNIT South Bend to produce As the Water Flows, a documentary that raises awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy waters.
The film will focus on the rivers, lakes and streams that make up the Upper Tippecanoe Watershed, and examine how this crucial area impacts the region as well as the people who live in it. Production is set to begin next week, and will continue throughout this year.
The project includes educational components, classroom materials, segments that can be edited for service club type presentations and the full one-hour documentary.
The goal of this endeavor is to educate viewers on water quality issues by emphasizing that it is important to protect and manage this resource now, in order to preserve it for future generations.
The Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation has worked extensively on the upper Tippecanoe River watershed for the past 18 years by implementing studies and carrying out pollution reduction projects. Efforts to reduce and stop water pollution at its source are having an impact, but more work remains.
