Miller’s Merry Manor And The Y Join Forces
The opening of a new rehabilitation therapy gym and fitness center at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw has created an opportunity for the Kosciusko Community YMCA to expand its service to area seniors. Three days each week, Miller’s will host YMCA staff leading an extension of the Silver Sneakers® program at the new Living Well Fitness Center, located on the campus of Miller’s Merry Manor at 1630 S. County Farm Road in Warsaw. Planned offerings include Silver Sneakers Classic, Silver Sneakers Yoga, and Silver Splash.
In addition to the classes planned, the new center will offer members of the Kosciusko Community YMCA over the age of 50 the use of the fully equipped fitness room and therapeutic exercise pool. Speaking of the collaboration, Chad Zaucha, CEO of the Kosciusko Community YMCA stated, “Our relationship with Miller’s allows for the reach of the YMCA to expand to impact a larger portion of active older adults. Together we can help individuals reclaim their health and improve overall quality of life.”
Silver Sneakers® classes are for older adults who are fit and active as well as those who are sedentary, intimidated, or unfamiliar with exercise, and all who enjoy a positive, upbeat social environment. Using hand-held weights, specially designed chairs and kickboards, along with other supportive equipment, individuals participate in classes intended to increase muscular strength, balance, and range of movement.
