Pitching Carries Trojans To Sectional Title [VIDEO]
UNION MILLS – The Triton baseball team won its first two sectional games by relying on its offense.
The Trojans claimed a sectional championship Tuesday night thanks to its pitching and defense.
The duo of Nate Flenar and Zac Pitney took care of the pitching part with an outstanding effort for the champions.
Flenar and Pitney combined to fired a one-hitter as Triton edged past host South Central 2-1 in the title game of the Class 1-A South Central Sectional.
The Trojans, now 9-16, advance to play Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the second semifinal game of the Caston Regional. North White will play either Morgan Township or Washington Township (who play today in the sectional final at Washington Township) in the regional opener at Caston at 11 a.m. The regional title game is set for Saturday at 8 p.m.
Starter Flenar allowed just one hit, that coming in the sixth inning, to the defending champion Satellites. He went six innings, allowing just the one run in the sixth inning on one single with three walks and three strikeouts.

Pitney came on in the final frame and got a pair of strikeouts to seal Triton’s fourth overall sectional title and its first since 2008.
Triton had beaten Culver 10-4 and Oregon-Davis 10-1 in its first two sectional games. South Central topped LaCrosse 11-0 in the semifinals Monday night.
The Trojans plated a run in the fourth inning and another in the fifth frame to take a 2-0 lead. Grant Stichter drove home the first run and Pitney made it 2-0 with his RBI single.
Triton managed six hits off Logan Lionberger. He went all six innings (Triton was the home team) and struck out 12 and walked three.
Stichter led the Trojans with a double and an RBI. Game McPherson also had a double and Pitney a hit, a run scored and a single. Cordale Keyser contributed a hit and three stolen bases and Dylan Hensley and Landon Kaufman each had a hit.
Triton committed just one error in the win. The Trojans did leave nine men on base in the contest, while South Central had two errors and stranded four.
Noah Eaton had the lone hit for South Central, which had won five of the last six sectional titles. The Satellites finish the year at 11-12.
