UPDATE: Head On Collision At Market and Bronson, Warsaw
UPDATE: Chaise R. Belcher, 23, North CR 175E, Warsaw, suffered injuries to his entire body following a three-vehicle accident at 12:13 p.m. Sunday, on South Bronson Street at East Market Street, Warsaw. He was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital.
The other drivers were not injured.
Belcher told police he was southbound on Bronson Street and does not remember what happened. He believes he fell asleep.
Belcher’s vehicle, a 1991 Dodge, ran the stop sign at Market and Bronson streets and traveled towards a 2002 Dodge driven by Kay A. Scheuer, 34, West CR 250W, Warsaw. Scheuer said she saw the driver slumped back over the seat and she attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but could not. Belcher’s vehicle struck the rear driver’s side door area of Scheurer’s vehicle. Scheurer’s vehicle then hit a stop sign.
After Belcher’s vehicle struck the Scheuer’s vehicle, it then came directly at a 2011 Dodge truck driven by Danny L. Stanley, 64, South Egewater Drive, Silver Lake. The collision was head on.
A witness told police Belcher’s vehicle stopped halfway in the intersection on Center Street and was almost hit by another vehicle. Belcher then continued southbound and went through the intersection, drove on the sidewalk before running the stop sign at Market Street where the accidents occurred.
Damage was estimated up to $50,000.
At 12:15 p.m. Sunday, May, 31, emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Market Street and Bronson Street in Warsaw for a three-vehicle automobile accident.
Injuries have been reported. Smoke from one of the vehicles has also been reported.
According to a Warsaw Police Department officer, one person was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for injuries.
WPD, Warsaw-Wayne Fire Department and Multi-Township EMS assisted at the scene.
