LCA Tabs Kauffman As New Hoops Coach
WINONA LAKE – Allison Kauffman has spent the last four years helping the Grace College women’s basketball team succeed.
The Fort Wayne native will now look to help the fortunes of the Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball program.
Kauffman has been named the new girls basketball coach at LCA. She replaces Brian Harshman, who was 7-17 in one season at LCA.
Kauffman had a stellar collegiate career playing for coach Scott Blum at Grace. The 6-0 forward finished second in program history in both scoring and rebounding. Kauffman, who played both basketball and volleyball at Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian, was the top scorer (17 ppg.) and rebounder (9 rpg.) during the 2014-15 season as the Lancers went 18-17. Kauffman helped Grace post three winning seasons in her four years, the first over .500 campaigns for the program since the 1991-92 season.
Kauffman earned NAIA and NCCAA All-American honors on the hardwood, while also earning Academic All-American accolades for her efforts in the classroom. She is currently the Fitness Director at the Gordon Recreation Center at Grace.
“I love to serve the Lord through my passion for sports and fitness,” said Kauffman in a release from LCA. I am very excited to start my coaching career, and I am looking forward to seeing how the Lord works through my opportunity to be a part of the basketball and volleyball programs at Lakeland Christian Academy”.
LCA competes as a Class 1-A program and is an independent. The Cougars had four seniors on its roster this past season.
