Hear Ye, Hear Ye: Lincoln Students Celebrate Medieval Period
Third and fourth grade students donned their finest gowns and armor today to host a royal feast for the ages. The Lincoln Zillionaires held their biannual medieval banquet, inviting parents for a time of entertainment, food and merriment.
Though the actual start date for the event is unknown, according to Jane Zellers, teacher of the Lincoln gifted and talented class, the event dates back many years. Every year, students research either the carnival or medieval period and prepare an in depth presentation. For this year’s event, students performed a group play followed by distributing food to guests that fit the period.
Fun facts were provided throughout the event and students performed numerous skits, songs, jokes and more.
Student performances included a rap by Ada Thomsen, Hallie Bale and Sarah Morgan; a piano solo by Kathryn Monsma; jokes by Felix Cruz and Deaglan Gardner; a knighting ceremony performed by Kin Bryson Brown and squires Sammy Slocum, Zane Studebaker, Josh Shapiro and Felix Cruz; a monologue by Azlynn Taylor and Elle Brouwer; a scholarly performance from Doondeshwar Patnala; a performance by Coco Grandon, Azlynn Taylor and Elle Brouwer; magic by Kathryn Monsma, Coco Grandon and Nagisa Nakamura; sword fighting performed by Eddy Wielgot and Doondeeshwar Patnala; a reading by Elle Brouwer; beer training performance by Hallie Bale and Sarah Morgan featuring the “bear” Ada Thomsen; a medieval skit by Eddy Wielgot, Azlynn Taylor, Nagisa Nakamura; Coco Grandon; Kathryn Monsma and Deaglan Gardner; and jester performance by Felix Cruz and Deaglan Gardner.
