Daniel Fletcher Shanbeck
Daniel Fletcher Shanbeck, 83, Dade City, Fla. and formerly of Warsaw, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015, in Dade City, Fla. He was born July 6, 1931, in Pierceton, to Alpheus A. and Victoria (Stinebaugh) Shanbeck.
A 1953 graduate of Manchester College, he married Virginia P. Pittman on Dec. 24, 1975, in Lutz, Fla. He entered the United States Army on June 15, 1953, in Indianapolis and served during the Korean War. He was an instructor at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala. He was honorably discharged June 14, 1956, through Huntsville, Ala.
After his discharge for the army, he pursued a career in electronics with RCA in Greenland and Kwajalein, Marshall islands, in the Pacific, until his retirement to Dade City, Fla., in 1974.
While living in Kosciusko County, he attended the North Winona Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed electronics and music.
He is survived by his wife: Virginia P. Shanbeck, Dade City, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father: Alpheus A. Shanbeck on Jan. 12, 1964; his mother: Victoria Shanbeck, on Aug. 7, 1977; and two sisters: Thelma M. Lozier, on Sept. 18, 2004; and Gladys M. Kerlin, on Aug. 18, 1992.
Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. The memorial service will begin after visitation at 1 p.m. Thursday, with Pastor Bob Jarboe, Chaplain of Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
