W. Maxine Kammerer
W. Maxine Kammerer, 93 of Leesburg, passed away at 10:24 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015, in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake.
On Dec. 29, 1921, she was born in Kosciusko County to Charles and Beatrice (Uplinger) Baker. She was united in marriage to Paul Sand who preceded her in death in 1940, due to Polio. She then was united in marriage to Frederick E. “Cricket” Kammerer on Jan. 6, 1961 in Folkston, Ga., who preceded her in death on June 25, 2011.
A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Maxine worked as a press operator for Taylor Products, Elkhart, retiring in 1986. Maxine and her husband owned a carriage and horses for Weddings, Parades, and other various occasions. She was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church and a fifty year member of American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sister-in-laws: Peg (Dick) Klopenstein, N.C.; and Cora “Susie” Baker, Silver Lake. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Maxine was also preceded in death by her parents, her son: Gordon Sand; three sisters: Willodean Cole; June Baker Reed Lowry; and Edna Mae Hill Craft; and two brothers: Wilbur Baker; and Harold Baker.
There are no services or visitation planned. Burial will be at a later date in Leesburg Cemetery, Leesburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
