Jean H. (Bertucci) Miller
Jean H. (Bertucci) Miller, 81, of Beverly, Mass. and Wabash, died at 6:29 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was born Aug. 3, 1933, in Beverly, to George and Margaret (McManus) Bertucci.
Jean graduated from Beverly High in 1951 and graduated from North Shore Community College with a degree in Social Services. She married Edward Miller, the father of her seven children; he preceded her in death. She then married Richard Kenneth “Kenny” Clapp and he died May 21, 2003.
Her passion was helping others, especially at-risk youth, working with them at Project Alternative. Working with the Developmentally Challenged at both Morgan Memorial in Beverly, Mass. and at the ARC in Indian River County, Fla., as the Vocational Coordinator for over 30 years, she still continued to volunteer at social service agencies, the most recent being the Dallas Winchester Senior Center in Wabash. Jean taught her children the value of hard work, to be courageous, respectful, selfless and to always help others. She loved all kinds of music, dancing, attending concerts with her daughters. She moved to Wabash in 2004 and was known as “Mama B” , always having a story to tell, and her presence alone was enough to put a smile on your face.
She is survived by seven children: Sharon (Norman) Corey, Beverly, Mass.; Robert (Jennifer) Miller, Leominster, Mass.; James (Lina) Miller, Beverly, Mass; Wayne (Valerie) Miller, Vero Beach, Fla.; Raymond (Paula) Miller, Gloucester, Mass.; Judy (Harry) Kilmer, Wabash; and Debra Miller Chute of Saint Mary’s, W. Va.; 12 grandchildren: Andrea; Paul; Kristen; Dylan; Stephanie; Tommy; Justine; Kendra; John; Jackie; Jeffrey; and Boston; 11 great-grandchildren; and her nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her two furry grandchildren: Teddy and Harley. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brother: George Bertucci.
Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
Preferred memorial is the Dallas L. Winchester Scholarship Fund, Wabash.
