Wawasee Sports Wrap – May 23
The regular season finale for the Wawasee couldn’t have gone much better as the Warriors held Lakeland to one hit in an 11-0 win in LaGrange.
The combination of Harrison Shortill and Sam Rookstool held the Lakers to just one hit and one walk over the five-inning contest. The two struck out four over the course of the game in what could potentially be a second-round matchup at the NorthWood Sectional should both clubs win their opening round games.
Offensively, the Warriors clubbed 10 hits and scored at least one run in every inning. Gage Reinhard was 3-3 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Caleb Dingeldein added a double and two RBIs and Drew Anderson doubled and scored twice.
Wawasee closes its regular season at 10-13 and will enter sectional play Thursday against Whitko. Lakeland will take on West Noble Friday.
