Cuellar Signs On With St. Francis
WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School senior Ernesto “Tito” Cuellar has signed a letter of intent to continue his education and soccer career at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne.
Cuellar, a three-year letterman for one of the more successful high school soccer programs in northern Indiana, was a scoring threat that helped the Tigers to three sectional titles and was a member of the 2013 IHSAA State runner-up squad. Cuellar was also a member of three sectional championships and two regional title teams.
Cuellar earned All-Northern Lakes Conference Honorable Mention as a junior and was All-NLC as a senior while being named to the Indiana High School Soccer Coaches Association All-District Top Player team.
Warsaw’s Most-Improved Player award winner after his junior season, Cuellar capped his career with 20 goals while drawing a bulk of the attention from opposing defenses. While the fleet-footed forward continued to find the net, he was also among the team leaders in assists the past two seasons.
While Cuellar was making an impact on the soccer field, he also did his part to impact the community as well through his service with Sunday School programs as well as summer soccer camps, and he also managed his time successfully to achieve scholar-athlete recognition as well.
Cuellar will major in Business at Saint Francis and play for coach Mitch Ellison and the Cougars. Saint Francis is a member of the Crossroads League and competes in the NAIA.
