Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
12:12 a.m. Monday, May 18, South Harkless Drive, Syracuse. Driver: Jennifer R. Wines, 43, Prairie Drive, Syracuse. Wines missed the curve and became stuck on a rock and a railroad tie. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
11:59 a.m. Monday, May 18, Lake City Highway, west of Silveus Crossing, Warsaw. Drivers; Lester A. Hamell, 64, West CR 75N, Kimmell, and Eryk Nowak, 33, O’Connor Drive, River Grove, Ill. Hamell was eastbound on US 30 and entered the left turn lane at Silveus Crossing. He saw a flashing yellow arrow and turned left. As he crossed westbound US 30 traffic he was hit by a westbound semi. Witnesses stated westbound traffic had a green light. Hamell was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital with incapacitating injuries to his entire body. Damage up to $50,000.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accidents:
2:42 p.m. Monday, May 18, Seminary Drive, east of Kings Highway, Winona Lake. Driver: Dixie B. Pifer, 55, East Main Street, Warsaw. Pifer, driving a school bus registered to Warsaw Community Schools, was attempting to turn the bus around when the back of the bus swung too wide hitting the back of a parked vehicle registered to Carolyn M. McCord, Wooster Road, Winona Lake. Damage up to $1,000.
12:35 p.m. Monday, May 18, Park Avenue and Argonne Road, Winona Lake. Drivers: Myrna L. Douglas, 69, Arapaho Trail, Fort Wayne, and David J. Madison, 83, South Blue spruce Court, Warsaw. Douglas disregarded a red light and made a left turn hitting the Madison vehicle.
