Rudolph Gail Bennett
Rudolph Gail Bennett, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 8:32 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Hospice Care, Fort Wayne.
He was born July 3, 1931, in Packerton, a son of the late Russell E. and Fairy M. (Bollinger) Bennett. His formative years were spent in South Whitley and Washington Township, Whitley County. He graduated from Washington Center High School in 1949.
In 1951, he moved to Fort Wayne and began his work career as a bookkeeper. He worked for the Fort Wayne Urban League retiring in 2013 with 20 years of service.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed art and drew family pictures. He loved sports and was a die hard Cubs fan and the Chicago Bears.
He is survived by his two brothers: Wayne (Margie) Bennett, Columbia City; and Larry Bennett, Fort Wayne; niece: Shirley Bennett; nephews: Gregory Bennett, Albion; and Stephen Bennett, Fort Wayne; three great-nieces and two great-nephews.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Eberhard Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at the funeral home.
