Wilbert E. Bok
Rev. Wilbert E. Bok, 89, of Columbia City, was called to his heavenly home at 9:52 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015.
He was born June 15, 1925, in Sherwood, Ohio, to Enos and Eliese (Huth) Bok. He served as Pastor in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod for 60 years (40 years in parish ministry and 20 years in part-time service to other congregations).
He is survived by his wife: Martha Bok; five children: Lisa (John) Hatcher, Columbia City; Paula (Don) Avirett, Amarillo Texas; Dr. Robert (Helen) Bok, San Francisco Calif.; Laura (Dennis) Goff, Bartow, Fla.; Thomas (Karen) Bok, Ellicott City, Md.; grandchildren: Melissa (Seth) LaRue, Michael Hart, Laura Burciaga, Dr. Nathaniel (Erin) Avirett, Thad Goff, Theo Goff, Joseph (Becca) Bok and Seth Bok; seven great-grandchildren: Lucy, Jude, Bela and Bryn LaRue; Jude and Samuel Avirett; and Truett Burciaga; and a sister: Elma Kane, Cleveland, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Anna Marie Bok; a son: Timothy James Bok; a great-grandson: Timothy LaRue; two brothers: Arnold Bok and Delbert Bok; and a sister: Mary Ruth Zacharias.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 18, at St. JohnÂ’s Lutheran Church, 2465 W. Keiser Road, Columbia City, with visitation after 10 a.m. Also, visitation at 3 p.m. with a funeral service at 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 18, at St. John Lutheran Church, 9088 Openlander Road, Sherwood, Ohio, followed by Christian burial in the church cemetery.
