Thank You To The DARE Officers
Dear Editor,
Heroes don’t always wear capes and have secret superpowers. Sometimes they wear uniforms. Our community is full of them! I challenge you to look around you will find lots of them around our classrooms. Sometimes unseen, these men and women are daily caring, teaching and protecting our children.
Last night our family attended the DARE graduation for our sixth grader. We got a tiny peak at what happens inside our classrooms in Warsaw. We saw the entire class of 2021 surrounded by police officers, teachers, and their superintendent who care about them so much they are willing to give their lives for them. Even our Mayor came to cheer these guys on. I appreciate that.
It was an incredible ceremony for our kids. Sometimes I take for granted the treasure we have here in our community. The DARE officers who have taught our children the dangers of drugs, who have loved our children, and who have shown them what a real leadership looks like… those are true heroes. They are not thanked enough. The school safety officers in each of our schools are incredible role models for our kids. I watched these officers who walk the halls of our schools each and everyday, talk and interact with these kids. They truly care about them.
I just want to say thanks. I send my four children to school each day knowing they are surrounded by these men and women who have their backs…knowing they are safe.
Please accept a huge hug and thank you from this mom.
