Kosciusko Community YMCA will be offering Summer one classes starting Monday, June 1. Youth classes will include swim lessons and gymnastics classes for all ages. Group exercise classes will be offered at both the Parkview Warsaw YMCA and the North Webster branch, classes for older adults and water aerobics will be offered at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA branch.
All group exercise and water aerobics classes are now included with a Y membership. Registration for youth classes starts on Monday, May 18, for everyone and can take place at the North Webster or the Parkview Warsaw YMCA branch or online at www.kcymca.org. There will also be a second set of summer classes Monday, July 13 through Sunday, Aug. 23. Registration for the Summer two session starts Monday, July 6, for everyone.
As swim season approaches, the Y encourages children and parents in this community of lakes to explore the many benefits of swimming, while also keeping safety top of mind. In the Y’s swim programs, participants can enjoy the water, enhance or learn new techniques, meet new friends and develop confidence, while also learning safety skills that can save lives.
The Y continues to help youth and adults experience the joy and benefits of swimming, so they can be healthy, confident and secure in the water. There are a variety of programs to choose from, including, parent/child swim classes, swim lessons for preschoolers, youth and adults, water aerobics classes for all levels, and a competitive swim team- The Sharks.
The Y will be offering a free aqua awareness session free to the community at Orchard Ridge Apartments at noon Monday, June 13, for ages 3-12. Register at Orchard Ridge or the YMCA by Wednesday, June 10. Contact Steven Kuhn at (574) 269-9622 ext. 223 with any question.
In addition to water safety, the Y wants to make sure the kids are safe and cared for while out of school. School Break camp will be from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday, June 4, and Friday, June 5. Then, Camp Little Eagle will be offered from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday, June 8, until Friday, Aug. 7.
Fathers’ Day, Sunday, June 21, the Y is inviting fathers to bring their children to the Y for free to spend time with them. And in honor of National Men’s Health Week, all men age 18 and up can come in for free Monday, June 15 through Sunday, June 21. For these free days, visitors should be ready with an ID and some basic personal information.
The Y will be hosting Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography from 9 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. Monday, July 20. This is a mammogram service for women over 35 who have not had a mammogram in the past year and are not currently experiencing any problems with their breasts. Screening will be done on the mobile unit. For women without insurance, a high deductible, or resources to pay, funding is available.
