Coy Petition Approved By County BZA
The agenda was somewhat light for the regular monthly meeting of the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals Tuesday in Warsaw.
Among the agenda items considered was a petition by Gerald and Stacy Coy for an exception to allow produce sales within a residence in a commercial district. The petition was approved and the property is located on SR 13, north of Syracuse-Webster Road in Tippecanoe Township.
Other agenda items included:
• Advanced Disposal Services Hoosier Landfill dropped two petitions because they indicated they are not ready to proceed with a project. One petition had asked to allow the main entrance to a sanitary landfill to be relocated to Packerton Road at the intersection with CR 800S in Monroe Township. The other petition concerned also allowing primary site access off CR 700S.
• Carrie Harrell’s petition for a variance to allow an existing mobile home to remain as placed on Maple Grove Road, north of CR 600S in Monroe Township, was denied. There were concerns the setback was too close and could create safety issues.
• Serenity Golf Club’s petition for an exception to allow peat moss harvesting in an agricultural district and resulting in ponds closer than required by county ordinance was tabled for 60 days to allow for more input from regulatory agencies such as the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and others. The property is located on Old US 30, west of CR 600E in Washington Township.
• Carey Group was granted approval for an exception to allow a hospital/medical clinic in a commercial district on Pequignot Drive at the intersection with Matchett Drive in Pierceton.
• Dawn Barnes’ petition for a variance to permit the construction of a residence addition deck on EMS B18 Lane, west of SR 13 in Tippecanoe Township, was tabled for 30 days to allow for a survey to more closely determine the setbacks.
• Jeff Heffelfinger was granted a variance to permit the construction of a screened room and open deck on EMS B61L Lane in Tippecanoe Township.
