Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
12:32 a.m. Sunday, May 10, East CR 1300N, west of North CR 300E, Syracuse. Drivers: Bridget N. Griffin, 16, East King Arthur Trail, Cromwell, and Joseph A. Hartzell, 25, East Van Buren Street, Leesburg. Griffin was cited for a learner’s permit violation as there was no valid driver’s in the vehicle. Griffin was stopped at the intersection and did not see any traffic and pulled into the intersection, causing Hartzell’s vehicle to hit the passenger side front of her vehicle. Hartzell’s vehicle, after impact, was pushed off the north edge of CR 1300N, coming to rest on the edge of a pond. Damage up to $25,000.
9:19 p.m. Saturday, May 9, West CR 800S, west of South County Farm Road, Claypool. Driver: Heath E. Dierks, 16, North CR 300E, North Manchester. Hit deer. Damage up to $5,000.
8:31 p.m. Friday, May 8, East CR 450N, west of North CR 250E, Warsaw. Driver: Alan W. Robbins, 31, East CR 450N, Warsaw. Robbins reached down to pick up a fallen cell phone, jerking the steering wheel. His vehicle went off the road and hit two mailboxes. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
11:52 a.m. Monday, May 11, North Lake Street and West Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Mary R. Felder, 86, West CR 750N, Shipshewana, and Sheila A. Groninger, 44, West CR 100N, Warsaw. Felder turned north onto Lake Street, hitting the back of the Groninger vehicle. Groninger complained of neck and head pain and was checked by paramedics at the scene, but was not transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital. Damage up to $2,500.
7:19 a.m. Monday, May 11, Tiger Lane, south of SR 15, Warsaw. Drivers: James K. McDairmant, 46, North Blue Heron Drive, Warsaw, and Lynn C. Kelley, 51, Heron Boulevard, Warsaw. McDairmant’s vehicle struck the back of the Kelley vehicle. Kelley advised she had head and neck pain but refused medical treatment at the scene. Damage under $750.
