NorthWood Bounces Wawasee Tennis
NAPPANEE – With just a week to go before the Northern Lakes Conference tournament, the girls tennis teams within the NLC are looking to make strides. NorthWood had four courts dominate against Wawasee, while the Lady Warriors had one court shine Thursday.
The host Lady Panthers lost just four games on its four victorious courts, including a pair of shutouts. Sydney Wysong at one singles and the two doubles pair of Mikayla Bley and Jama Rice each won their matches in love, love fashion, Wysong against Jada Antonides and the doubles against Kabrea Rostochak and Jazlyn Gehlhausen.
Tori Schwartz and Kennedy Wiens continued their strong play with a love and one win against Charity Parker and Ashley Larson at one doubles and Betsy Nunemaker rallied from a 6-3 win in the first set against Chelsea Carolus to give up nothing in game two, 6-0, of the three singles matchup.
Wawasee’s Nealy Thanasrivanitchai picked up her first conference win of the season in a 6-2, 6-3 score over Amanda Rhoade at two singles.
NorthWood’s JV claimed wins on seven of the nine courts. The Lady Panthers had singles wins from Audra Graber, Yadira Figueroa, Cheyanne Diamond and Desirae Diamond. Wawasee had doubles wins from Jasmine Morehead and Courtney Larson as well as Lauren Horn and Brianna Haessig.
Wawasee (2-8 overall, 0-5 NLC) will return to action Friday at Elkhart Memorial.
