Donald E. Adams
Donald E. Adams, 76, of Fort Wayne, passed on Monday, March 2, in Sebring, Florida.
He was born June 28, 1938, in Tyner, the son of the late Robert and Mary Adams. Donald was married to Betty Jean Drews; she preceded him in death on April 14, 1992. Donald was a 1957 graduate of Columbia City High School; served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961; retired from NECA-IBEW in 1998. He was Past Master of Masonic Lodge 189 of Columbia City; Whitley County Mizpah Shrine, Loyal Order of Moose, American Legion Post 82, Comanche Society, FAA Experimental Repair.
Don’s passions were spending winters at his Florida home, flying his airplanes, building experimental aircraft, boating, fishing, enjoying friends, and most of all spending time with his children, grandchildren and pet “Tuffy”. Don was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a great friend to many. He was always willing to drop everything to help anyone, anytime. He will be greatly missed and remembered by us all!
Surviving are his wife: Barbara LaFever-Adams, Fort Wayne; daughters: Gia Adams, Columbia City; and Mary Adams, Columbia City; sisters: Patricia (Richard) Farmer, Sebring, Florida; and Ruth (Rick) Peairs, Atascadero, Califoria; brother: Robert (Nancy) Adams, Union, Kentucky; stepdaughters: Tamara Martin; and Wendy Rotering, Indiana; son: Timothy J. LaFever, Indiana; grandchildren: Kelly Petty; and Keona Conway, both of Tennessee; Jessica Stevens, Indiana; Troy Adams; Jeremy Bogner; Dakota Heaton; Jacob Heaton, all of Columbia City; step grandchildren: Travis Martin; Tracy Martin; Jenna Jines; Corey Olinger; Timothy LaFever, Marie LaFever, all of Indiana; and seven great grandchildren: Haley; Taylor; Chloe; Addy; Brentley; Nehemiah; and Jason.
A memorial celebration of life for friends and family is from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, with a Masonic Service following at 7 p.m. at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, at the funeral home. Burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Make-A-Wish Foundation or Shriners Childrens Hospital.
