Whitko Sports Wrap – May 6
A fast start carried the Whitko baseball team past visiting Wabash Wednesday night.
The host Wildcats scored four runs in the first inning en route to posting a 5-4 win in Three Rivers Conference play.
Whitko got RBI singles from Riley Anderson and Drew Bradford in the first frame. Garrett Smiley also contributed a sacrifice fly in the inning.
Zach Snep notched the pitching win. He went the first five innings with three strikeouts and three walks. Anderson earned the save with two innings of scoreless work in relief. Anderson allowed no runs and just two hits.
Bradford was 2-2 at the plate and Snep had a double. Smiley also had an RBI single for the Wildcats.
Whitko improves to 11-6 overall and 3-1 in the TRC. Wabash drops to 9-6 overall and 0-3 in league play.
Whitko plays at Bellmont Friday night.
Softball Teams Rolls To Win
The Whitko softball team rolled past Wabash 14-1 in five innings.
Aly Nicodemus fired a one-hitter with six strikeouts to notch the pitching win for the host Wildcats in the conference contest.
Whitko plays at Fort Wayne Wayne Thursday night.
