Run, Walk Or Roll Coming Back To Warsaw
WARSAW – The second annual 5K/1-Mile Run, Walk or Roll will be held May 23 at Warsaw Community High School.
Last year’s event was a huge success, and this year the 5K will begin at 9 a.m. on the cross country course and will be timed by the Kosciusko Runner’s Association using on-the-bib timing devices. The one-mile event will begin immediately after the 5K on the traditional track. The one-mile is open to anyone interested in showing their support. Participants with wheels (wheelchairs or strollers) are encouraged to join. The one-mile is an untimed event with all entrants being recognized for completing the mile.
Proceeds from the event will support the Warsaw Community High School Unified Track Team and the Indiana Special Olympics. The Unified Track Team, which consists of students with and without intellectual disabilities, brought home a state championship at the first-ever Unified Track State Tournament held in Bloomington last June. Unified track is an IHSAA sanctioned sport and the result of a joint effort between the IHSAA and Special Olympics.
Anyone needing additional information or interested in sponsoring the event should contact Brenda Linky at [email protected].
