State Fairgrounds To Host Huge Classic Car Auction
The Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis will be host to Dana Mecum’s 28th annual Spring Classic auction May 12-16, recognized as the largest and best muscle car auction in the world.
A showcase of an estimated 2,000 vehicles will be on display. The annual event draws crowds in the tens of thousands of buyers, sellers and spectators.
“The Spring Classic is one of the only true national auctions held in the United States,” said Dana Mecum, president and founder of Mecum Auctions. “Indy consistently draws buyers and sellers from across the country and around the world.”
Some highlights of the catalog include:
- The lowest-mileage 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda known to exist
- Two Shelby Cobra Roadsters, a stunningly restored 1967 Shelby 427 CSX3356 and a rare automatic-equipped 1965 Shelby 289 CSX2549
- A 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta
- Eight 1958 Fuelie Corvettes from Larry Gerig’s Corvette Classic Museum in Fort Wayne
New this year in addition to the cars will be a motorcycle auction to be held May 14 featuring 100 select vintage and collectible motorcycles headlined by the Shreffler’s Land of Lincoln Harley-Davidson collection.
Bidder registration for the auctions is $100, which includes admission for two people to all six auction days. General admission tickets will be available at the gate for $20 per person, per day. Doors open at 8 a.m. each day with the auction beginning at 10 a.m.
