Schaefer Selects Franklin
WARSAW – Warsaw Tiger senior linebacker Darren Schaefer has put on pads and a helmet for the past 10 fall football seasons in Warsaw, and the Tiger senior defensive standout announced where he intends to suit up for his next four.
Schaefer, one of the top defenders and mainstays in the Warsaw defense from his linebacker position, announced his intentions to attend Franklin College and play football for the Grizzlies.
Schaefer, who had an tremendous knack for finding the football and helped anchor the Tiger defense with big plays and hard knocks, is a three-year letterman for the Warsaw Tigers.
While Schaefer was working on stopping tailbacks on Friday nights, he also worked on his assignments in the classroom and in the community. The Scholar-Athlete Award winner served with the Bakers Youth Club, Combined Community Services, Feed My Starving Children, Pushups for Troops, the Pee Wee football program, as well as served with the STARR Peer Tutoring Program at WCHS.
Schaefer intends to study Criminal Justice while playing football for Franklin and coach Mike Leonard.
