Lancers Wrap Up Golf Season
ANGOLA – The Grace Lancers’ golf team concluded the 2014-15 season at the Crossroads League Championship Monday and Tuesday.
Grace finished ninth out of nine teams at the Glendarin Hills Golf Club with a team score of 962.
On the opening day of the championships, the teams played two full rounds. Grace struggled in the first round as the Lancers found themselves in last place with a 329. Only Jon Schram (77) was able to shoot in the 70s.
But Grace made giant strides as a team in the second round, lowering its team score by 21 strokes for the best improvement in the field. Each of Grace’s top-four scorers dropped his total in the second round. Schram led the way with a 74. Taylor Fanning improved by eight strokes to shoot a 76, Tyler Ham’s 77 was also eight strokes better, and Daniel Zawlocki bettered his total by two with an 81.
In the final round on Tuesday, Ham produced his best total of the tournament with a 76. Fanning concluded his four-year career with a final-round 79, and Schram carded an 81.
Marian University won the championship with a team score of 890.
