Warsaw Track Ladies Bring Home The Hardware
KOKOMO – Bringing home the hardware is becoming just second nature to the Warsaw girls track program.
Coach Scott Erba’s team claimed another title Saturday by winning the Kokomo Relays.
The Tigers, who are undefeated on the season, piled up 142 points to win the event for the fourth straight year. Warsaw has now won the event nine times, the most of any school.
It was a record-setting day for Warsaw along the way to another invitational championship.
The Tigers set a pair of relays records in the outing. The 4 X 100 relay team of Samantha Alexander, Mariah Harter, Abbi Curtis and Audrey Rich won in a record-setting time of 49.28. That topped the old meet standard of 50.2 set by Marion in 2000.
The Sprint Medley Relay foursome of Rich, Alexander, Tennie Worrell and Nicole Eckert closed the meet in style with a record-setting effort of 2:51.78. That bested the old record set by Warsaw in 2009.
Alexander and Emily Bailey each also won individual championships. Alexander went 17-4 1/4 to claim first in the long jump competition. Bailey had a throw of 34-10 to win the shot put event.
The Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Eckert, Rebecca Lemon, Aexie Day and Caroline Mayer also won in a time of 1:09.47.
Lemon earned a pair of second-place finishes. She was second in the 100 hurdles in 17.34 and cleared 8-6 to place second in the pole vault. Carter was second in the 100 in 12.73.

Emma Hayward was third in the 3,200 in 12:23.16 and Anna Craig third in the 1,000-yard run in 2:53.95.
The Distance Medley Relay team of Curtis, Worrell, Allison Miller and Brooke Rhodes placed second in 9:12.17. The Sprint Medley Relay 9th grade team of Raina Armey, Day, Messenger and Shunterra Davis was second in 3:12.26.
