Jensen Paces Tigers On Links
FORT WAYNE – Michael Jensen led the way for the Warsaw boys golf team Saturday in the Fort Wayne Concordia Invitational.
Jensen fired a round of 77 to lead the Tigers to a fifth-place team finish in the action at the Foster Park Golf Course. Jensen finished in seventh place individually in the field.
Jonny Hollar came in with a round of 78 for coach Ben Barkey’s squad. Hollar tied for 10th place among individuals.
The trio of Brandon Eckert, Reid Cameron and Luke Johnson each shot an 81 for the Tigers. Ryan Cultice came in with an 82 for Warsaw.
No. 14 Leo and No. 3 Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger each shot 301 as a team with Leo earning the championship by winning a one-hole playoff. Columbia City finished third in the 24-team field with a 312 with Carroll fourth at 313 and Warsaw fifth at 317.
Kyle Miller of Dwenger shot a six-under par round of 66 to capture individual medalist honors for the tournament. Nate Morris of Leo was runner-up with a 72 and Tyler Green of Columbia City was third with a 73.
Warsaw returns to action Saturday in the Wawasee Invitational in Syracuse.
