Warsaw Redevelopment Authority Swears In Members
The newly formed Warsaw Redevelopment Authority held its first official meeting today at Warsaw City Hall.
Chosen for the WRA are George Clemens, Max Mock and Steve Truman. Each member took his oath of office and officers were selected. Clemens was selected president, Mock as vice president and Truman as secretary/treasurer.
The only order of business for the group was approval of Resolution 2014-04-01, which passed the Warsaw Common Council earlier this week. The resolution establishes the redevelopment authority with the purpose of financing, constructing and leasing of local public improvements.
Formation of the WRA stems from a need to execute a lease for the Warsaw Central Development Area – the TIF District that encompasses parts of Buffalo Street, Canal Street and Fort Wayne Street. The terms of the lease are not to exceed 25 years and the annual lease rate $220,000, payable in semi-annual installments. It also extends the life of the TIF District to 2039.
On Monday, the Warsaw Redevelopment Commission approved Resolution 2015-04-03, which authorizes the city of Warsaw to execute said lease. (see Warsaw Redevelopment Approves Resolution 2015-04-03)
The next meeting of the Warsaw Redevelopment Authority will be at noon Thursday, May 4.
