Oma Manns
Oma Manns, 87, 808 E. Main St., Akron, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Hickory Creek, Rochester, where she had resided for two and a half months.
Oma was born in Prestonsburg, Ky., on May 21, 1927 to Charles and Lula (Dotson) Hackworth. Growing up, she shared her childhood with three sisters and seven brothers. On Feb. 14, 1946, in Prestonsburg, she married Bradie Manns. They shared 58 years together, living 52 years of her life in Akron.
Oma was a housewife and worked at Chamberlain Products for 16 years. Raising four children, she made sure that they had everything they needed. She enjoyed taking walks and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and special friends, Phyllis, Bonnie and Rosie.
Surviving Oma are three children: DeWayne (Carolyn) Manns, Yantis, Texas; two daughters: Delores Dague, Akron; Diann (Wayne) Grube, Rochester; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law; two sister-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband: Bradie Manns; son: Dewight Manns; three sisters and seven brothers.
Her funeral service is at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Earl-Love Funeral Home, 811 E. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Thad Stewart of Omega Church and Old Cross Roads Church officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Akron IOOF Cemetery.
