New Hospital Gown Will Offer Improved Coverage For Patients
Henry Ford Health System, Detroit, has created a new style of hospital gown that aims to offer more coverage, particularly in the rear, for patients.
The “Model G” gown is designed like a wrap-around robe using adjustable snaps on the front and along the shoulders, closing the once-drafty back. The company said in a statement today that more than 35,000 gowns are going to be shipped out to hospitals this month.
The gowns are made by Michigan-based Carhartt from cotton-poplin blend fabric for improved comfort. They were developed by the Henry Ford Innovation Institute at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. A previous version was introduced in 2013, with a revised design unveiled last year.
The name, “Model G,” is a tribute to auto industry pioneer Henry Ford and his Model T car.
