Knights Jump On Tigers Early
WARSAW – It was a rough night for the Warsaw softball team Tuesday. East Noble put the pressure on Warsaw from the start, scoring three runs in the first and not letting up in a 17-1, five-inning final.
Brianna Glass was the catalyst for East Noble, getting on base in all five plate appearances and scoring four runs from the leadoff position. Glass had three hits and stole three bases to go with a pair of walks.
Laina Combs added two hits, two RBIs and three runs scored while Kelli Brennan and Mackenzie Corbin each drove in three runs. East Noble had four players with at least two hits and seven players with at least two runs scored to go with 10 drawn walks.
Warsaw scratched its only run across in the second on an RBI by Abby Glass, who had two of the three Tiger hits. Ashley Gamble had the other hit and scored the lone run for the home side, which fall to 0-3 on the season.
Taylor Stiver took the loss for Warsaw, giving up nine hits and eight walks in three innings of work. Abby Glass minimized the damage in two innings of one earned-run relief. Jordan Speaker got the win for the Knights, giving up two hits and one run in two innings of work.
Up next for Warsaw is a home date Wednesday night against Fort Wayne Carroll. East Noble (3-1) will play Garrett Monday.
