Triton Golfers Claim Own Invite Title
WARSAW – It was sweet “Music” for the Triton boys golf team Saturday.
The host Trojans celebrated a championship tune in taking top honors in their own Triton Invitational.
Greg Music led the way for the champions in the 13-team event played at the Rozella Ford Golf Course.
Music fired a round of 77 over the par 70 layout to earn individual medalist honors for the tournament. The Triton ace shot 38 over the front nine and 39 over the back nine to capture first-place honors in the field. Curt of New Prairie with an 86 to round out the top five individuals.
Blake Theiry of Blackford was individual runner-up with a round of 81. Patrick Smith of Lalumiere was third with an 82, followed by Michael Butler of LaVille with an 84 and Dawson
Triton shot 345 as a team to top runner-up Blackford by 23 shots. New Prairie was their with a 377 with Lalumiere at 378 and LaVille 391 to round out the top five. Glenn was sixth with a 405, followed by Oregon-Davis (409), Fremont (410), Pioneer (425), Culver (428), Caston (429), Triton II (443) and North Judson (517).
Jordan Anderson shot a round of 87 for the champion Trojans. Braden Kreft fired an 89 and Bryce Swihart a 92 for Triton. Spencer Johnson shot a 100.
Gavin Eads led the Triton II contingent with an 88. Austin Howell shot a 103, Mace Eads 114 and Brenden Damron a 138.
Triton will face host Bremen and LaVille on Wednesday.
