Orville F. Thomas
Orville F. Thomas, 90, of Strasburg, Colo., formerly of Grass Creek, passed away Thursday, April 2, at Prairie Creek Assisted Living Center in Strasburg.
Born on Nov. 29, 1924 in Lucerne, he was the son of the late Floyd and Leona (Sutton) Thomas. On May 14, 1944 he married Florence M. Ratcliff. She preceded him in death on Aug. 13, 2007.
He was a 1942 Grass Creek High School graduate, a graduate of Indianapolis University and an Indiana State University graduate where he received his Master’s Degree in Education.
Orville was a decorated U.S. Army veteran serving in the European Theater during WWII.
He was a member of Grass Creek United Methodist Church, Grass Creek Lions Club, the National Education Association and AARP.
Orville was a retired School Teacher from Eastern Pulaski School Corporation.
Survivors include his sons:, Wayne (Sandra) Thomas, Fla; and David (Ruth) Thomas, Bennett, Colo.; sister: Bonnie Riggle of Fulton; 10 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his son and daughter in law: James and Linda Thomas, grandson: Jamie Thomas and great grandson: Joshua Markulik.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m Friday, April 10, at Grass Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor David Sommers officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.
Burial with Military Rites will be performed at Grass Creek Cemetery.
